Escondido, California is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County. With a population of 144,000, it has thriving residential areas and bustling urban districts. Palomar Medical Center is the city’s largest employer. Escondido houses San Diego Zoo’s sister theme park, San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Every Friday night April – September downtown Escondido hosts “Crusin Grand.” This lively event held on Grand Street brings out hot rods and classic historic cars alike. Escondido is also home to the Deer Creek Buddhist Monastery, which is 1 of 3 Monasteries in the U.S. run by Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hahn. San Diego’s Stone Brewing Company just moved their headquarters to Escondido. The San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum is a popular family attraction in Escondido.
